Most businesses do not generate revenue by directly selling the main product. They find alternate ways. Theatres make money in India by selling popcorns. They feed us popcorn along with entertainment to pay the production house. So ultimately it is the popcorn that pays the film crew Similarly, it is passengers hunger and comfortable legroom in a flight that pays a pilot Today we have services that we pay extra to use, watch or listen without an ad. As a customer/user, what makes us pay more for an already available business? Is it convenience, a status symbol or is there some other reason behind? Do you think several other services like Ola, Oyo, Meesho, Zudio, Groww, Byjus, etc can have alternate business?

It’s the feeling of deserving. Even when we don’t actually (hard to measure) Only in places and circumstances ever humans think they ATLEAST deserve it, only there you can make them pay. Haan ola, zudio can do all this, like ola can introduce a limo service like uber does in SF, uber black and all. Zudio can place a 20k dress for a change in the middle of the store, to get it highlighted and eventually sell it.

You’re actually comparing an industry norm to companies. Though I get your point and yes. They do and already have other value added services, their data inherently can be shaped into a business (if shove comes to throat) or their tech, even their userbase.
