Firstly , analyse whether is it big problem and if it is big problem then research whether is it a big market . If these things are clear then go for Existing Players , if it is a problem then obviously players will exist in the global market, that's it. Correct me if I am wrong!!

A good way to identify TAM is to measure monthly revenue of a company and then multiply by total companies operating. First build local then think about global.

For TAM, go to websites like tracxn or crunchbase and look at competitors market cap. For Market research talk to your possible future users as much as possible.
