Online travel aggregator (OTA) Yatra has released its financial results for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q3 FY24). After sinking into the red in Q2, the company bounced back and recorded profits in Q3 along with crossing Rs 110 crore revenue mark during the period. Yatra’s revenue from operations grew 17.2% to Rs 110.3 crore in Q3 FY24 as compared to Rs 94.13 crore Q2 FY24, as per the firm’s consolidated financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange. While compared to Q3 of the previous fiscal year (Q3 FY23), the operating revenue of the company increased over 23% from Rs 89.6 crore. The company made 40.3% of its total operating revenue via Hotels and packages bookings which grew 23.4% to Rs 44.5 crore in Q3 FY24 from Rs 36.06 crore in Q2 of the same financial year. Revenue from air ticketing increased 5.9% to Rs 41.5 crore during the same period. The remaining Rs 24.3 crore came from other operating services and advertising income from hosting ads on its website, sale of coupons and vouchers and facilitating website access to travel insurance company. Yatra also earned Rs 8.86 crore as non-operating income (mainly from interest and gains on financial assets). This took the overall revenue to Rs 119.2 crore during the quarter. On the cost front, service cost which only relates to its hotel and packages vertical accounted for 23% of the total expenses. This cost surged 68.7% to Rs 26.9 crore in Q3 from Rs 15.95 crore in Q2 of the same fiscal. Whereas, employee benefits expenses for the company shrank 12.6% to Rs 32 crore during the quarter from Rs 36.6 crore in Q2 FY24. Yatra also incurred marketing and promotion costs of Rs 10.7 crore and payment gateway expense of Rs 12.7 crore in Q3 FY24. In total, Yatra’s overall expenditure increased just 3% to Rs 117 crore during Q3 from Rs 113.6 crore in Q2 FY24. With the controlled expenses, Yatra turned profitable and booked Rs 1.06 crore profits Q3 against Rs 17.13 crore loss in the previous quarter. Last year in the same quarter (Q3 FY23), it posted Rs 5.6 crore in losses. On a unit level, Yatra Online spent Re 1.06 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in Q3 of FY24. For the nine-months period (Apr-Dec 2023), the firm registered Rs 314.6 crore revenue from operations with a loss of Rs 10.08 crore. Yatra Online made its entry into the Indian public market in September last year with a share price of around Rs 136. With a market cap of over Rs 2,700 crore, it is currently trading at Rs 170 per share. Other than this, the company is also listed on NASDAQ with a current share price of $1.64 per share and a market cap of $105 million.

For more context, Yatra has reported a revenue of Rs 572 crore with a positive bottom line of Rs 21.3 crore in the first nine months of the ongoing fiscal year (FY25). The travel aggregator firm spent 56% of the overall expenditure on service costs which stood at Rs 131 crore, followed by employee benefits which were recorded at Rs 39 crore. Its spending on marketing, legal, information technology, and other costs pushed its overall expense to Rs 231 crore in Q3 FY25. The twofold year-on-year scale helped Yatra to register a 10X surge in its profits, bringing it to Rs 10 crore in Q3 FY25 against Rs 1 crore in Q3 FY24. On a unit level, the firm spent Re 0.98 to earn a rupee in Q3 FY25. Yatra is currently trading at Rs 93.21 with a 0.52% increase in its share price. Its total market capitalization stood at Rs 1,462 crore.

Ixigo released its financial results for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q3 FY25) on Tuesday. The company reported a 41% growth in scale, while its year-on-year (YoY) profits declined by 49.3%. Ixigo’s revenue from operations surged 41.5% to Rs 242 crore in Q3 FY25 in contrast to Rs 171 crore in Q3 FY24, as per the firm’s consolidated financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange. The company generated the majority (49.6%) of its operating revenue from train ticketing which increased to Rs 120 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 95 crore in Q3 FY24. Flight and bus booking services contributed 28% and 21.4% respectively. Besides operating revenue, the firm also earned Rs 5.2 crore via interest and gains from financial assets during the quarter, taking its total topline to Rs 247 crore in Q3 FY25. Ixigo’s gross transaction value (GTV) increased 48% year-on-year to Rs 4,036 crore during the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year. Employee benefits expenses rose by 17% YoY to Rs 41 crore. Overall, the company's total costs grew 42.7% to Rs 224 crore in Q3 FY25 compared to Rs 157 crore in Q3 FY24. Ixigo's net profits dropped by 49.3% to Rs 15.5 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 30.6 crore in Q3 FY24, attributed to a deferred tax income of Rs 16.7 crore booked in Q3 FY24. On a PBT basis, profits showed a significant QoQ increase of 54% to Rs 21.4 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 13.9 crore in Q3 FY24. Ixigo is currently trading at Rs 127.7 with a total market capitalization of Rs 4,886 crore or $581 million.

Info Edge, the parent company of Naukri and 99acres, published its financial statements on Thursday. The consolidated figures showcased a modest 8% increase in revenue for FY24. However, the company made a turnaround in its bottom line, transitioning from a loss of Rs 70 crore in FY23 to a profit of Rs 594 crore in FY24. Info Edge’s revenue from operations grew 8% to Rs 2,536 crore in FY24 from Rs 2,345 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statements disclosed with the stock exchange shows. Meanwhile, the company posted a 4.8% increase in revenue to Rs 657 crore in Q4 FY24 from Rs 627 crore in Q3 FY24. The Sanjeev Bikchandani-led firm operates through different segments. Income from Naukari.com and related portals formed 74.1% of its total revenue which increased 7.49% to Rs 1,880 crore in FY24. Its other segment 99acres saw a 23.6% growth to Rs 351 crore in FY24. Jeevansathi and Shiksha combined participated with Rs 305 crore of revenue during FY24. Info Edge made Rs 414 crore from non-operating activities tallying its total revenue to Rs 2,950 crore in FY24. Akin to other internet companies, its employee benefits accounted for 61% of its total expenditure which grew only 2.83% to Rs 1,128 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,097 crore in FY22. Info Edge’s network/internet, advertising cum promotional, legal, traveling and other overheads push the total expenditure to Rs 1830 crore in FY23 from Rs 1,858 crore in FY23. Note 1: The company recorded exceptional items of Rs 110 crore and Rs 509 crore in FY24 and FY23 respectively due to the decrease in the carrying value of investments. This was the primary reason for the significant loss posted in FY23. Note 2: The company has 15 joint ventures including Makesense, Happily Unmarried’s Ustraa (now acquired by VLCC), Shopkirana, Juno, Sploot and others during FY24. Info Edge recorded a share loss of Rs 131 crore and 231 crore in FY24 and FY23 respectively in its joint ventures which also makes a part of its consolidated figures and reflects losses in the financial statements. At the end, Indo Edge posted a net profit of Rs 594 crore in FY24 where the figures stood at a loss of Rs 70 crore in FY23 (refer note 1 and 2). On a unit level, it spent Rs 0.72 to earn a rupee in FY23.

Income from the remarketing and classified segment stood at Rs 58 crore and Rs 50 crore in the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year. CarTrade also added Rs 17 crore from other non-operating businesses which tallied its overall revenue to Rs 193 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 152 crore in Q3 FY24. On the expense front, employee benefits expenses formed 53% of the overall spending which went up a modest 7.3% to Rs 73 crore during the period. This cost also includes share-based expenses of Rs 3.36 crore. CarTrade’s overall expenses increased 12% to Rs 140 crore in Q3 FY24 from Rs 125 crore during Q3 FY24. The strong growth and controlled spending enabled CarTrade to achieve a turnaround and post a net profit of Rs 45.5 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to a loss of Rs 23.5 crore in Q3 FY24. However, the company had already recorded a revenue of Rs 472 crore and a net profit of Rs 99 crore during the nine months of the ongoing fiscal year. CarTrade recorded a 4.78% hike in its share price today and is trading at Rs 1,433.3 (as of 12:47) with a total market capitalization of Rs 6,789 crore or $800 million.

PB Fintech’s revenue increased to Rs 1,292 crore in Q3 FY25 as compared to Rs 871 crore during Q3 FY24, as per the firm’s unaudited consolidated financial results. PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar and Paisabazaar, recorded a 48.3% year-on-year increase in revenue during the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (FY25). At the same time, the firm nearly doubled its profits, maintaining strong growth in earnings. Insurance broking formed 87.6% of the total collections which surged by 62.4% to Rs 1,132 crore during Q3 FY25 from Rs 697 crore in Q3 FY24. The income from other operating activities, which include marketing, advertising, consulting, and support services, plunged 8% to Rs 160 crore in the same period. The firm earned Rs 100 crore from non-operating activities including financial income, tallying its overall revenue to Rs 1,392 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 965 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. For PB Fintech, employee benefits cost remained the largest cost center forming 37% of the overall expenditure. This cost increased by 22.4% YoY to Rs 487 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 398 crore in Q3 FY24. This includes Rs 51 crore as ESOP expense (non-cash). The company’s spending on advertising and promotional grew 34% to Rs 289 crore. Its network, internet, legal, rent, and other overheads pushed its total expenditure to Rs 1,307 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 926 crore in Q3 FY24. The significant year-on-year growth helped PB Fintech to post a 94.6% surge in profits to Rs 72 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 37 crore in the third quarter of the previous fiscal year. On a unit level, the Gurugram-based firm spent Rs 1.01 to earn a rupee in Q3 FY25. PB Fintech ended the day on January 30 with a share price of Rs 1,659.7 and a total market capitalization of Rs 76,225 crore (approximately $9 billion).

Online travel aggregator (OTA) platform EaseMyTrip on Friday announced its financial results for the quarter ending December 2023 (Q3 FY24). The results show a decent growth in scale and a marginal decline in profit during the quarter. EaseMyTrip ’s revenue from operations increased 13.5% to Rs 160.8 crore in Q3 of FY24 from Rs 141.7 crore in the last quarter (Q2 FY24), as per its consolidated financial statements with the National Stock Exchange. When compared to the third quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q3 FY23), its revenue from operations rose 18.1% from Rs 136.1 crore. EaseMyTrip collected 78% of its revenue from air passage which grew 8% to Rs 125.7 crore during the quarter while revenue from hotel packages spiked 54% to Rs 20.9 crore. The remaining Rs 14.18 crore was generated via other operating services. Including non-operating income of Rs 4.52 crore, the company’s overall collection approached Rs 165.3 crore in Q3 FY24. On the expense side, employee benefits expenses accounted for 21% of the overall spendings which went up 18.5% to Rs 22.16 crore during the period. It spent Rs 16.47 crore on service costs which represent the cost of tour packages, bus and other services. The company also incurred advertising – promotion and payment gateway charges worth Rs 17.48 crore and Rs 12.95 crore in the quarter. In total, EaseMyTrip’s overall expenses rose 31.4% to Rs 105 crore in Q3 FY24 from Rs 79.9 crore during Q2 of the same fiscal year. When it comes to the bottom line, the company’s profits marginally decreased (3%) to Rs 45.68 crore in Q3 as compared to Rs 46.95 crore in Q2 of the same fiscal year. In Q3 FY23 (previous fiscal year), the company had posted Rs 41.7 crore profits. Whereas, the company’s profit before tax stood at Rs 60.26 crore. On a unit level, EaseMyTrip spent Re 0.65 to earn a rupee in Q3 FY24. For the nine months period (Apr-Dec 2024) of FY24, EaseMyTrip posted Rs 426.5 crore revenue from operations with a profit of Rs 118.5 crore. Listed in March 2021 at Rs 13 per share, EaseMyTrip saw its peak in November 2022 at Rs 66 per share. With nearly 300% growth, its current price is roaming around Rs 51 a piece with a market cap of over Rs 9,000 crore or $1 billion.

Foodtech and quick commerce platform Zomato on Thursday released its financial results for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q3 FY24). The results showcase a decent growth in scale along with a 3.8X jump in profits. Zomato’s revenue from operations grew 15.4% to Rs 3,288 crore in Q3 FY24 in contrast to Rs 2,848 crore Q2 FY24, as per the firm’s consolidated financial results sourced from National Stock Exchange. Compared to the third quarter of the previous fiscal (Q3 FY23) year, its operating revenue went up by 68.8% from Rs 1,948 crore. Zomato operates several units including a food marketplace platform connecting end users, restaurants, and delivery personnel. Hyperpure provides farm-to-fork supplies to restaurants and businesses while Blinkit offers kirana, FMCG and other essentials within 10 minutes. Meanwhile, dining.out and Zomato Live let users discover restaurants, reserve tables, and book tickets for entertainment events. The firm made 51.8% of its total operating revenue via food ordering and delivery business, which grew 10.2% to Rs 1,704 crore in Q3 FY24 from Rs 1,546 crore in Q2 of the same financial year. Collections from its Hyperpure supplies (B2B business) increased 15.3% to Rs 859 crore during the same period while quick commerce vertical (Blinkit) contributed Rs 644 crore to the group’s coffers. The remaining income came from the ‘Going-out’ segment and other operating activities during the quarter ending December 2023. Additionally, Zomato also earned Rs 219 crore as non-operating income (mainly from interest and gains on financial assets) in Q3 FY24. As a result, its overall revenue crossed Rs 3,500 crore during the period. Coming to expenses, delivery and related charges accounted for 31.6% in Q3 which surged 16.2% to Rs 1,068 crore. Purchase of stock (after adjustment of changes in inventories) inclined 16% to Rs 782 crore while employee benefits cost remained flat at Rs 423 crore during the quarter. Zomato also spent Rs 374 crore on advertisement and promotions, akin to which its total expenditure rose 11.3% to Rs 3,383 crore in Q3 of FY24. On the lines of rising scale, Zomato’s profits also jumped 3.8X to Rs 138 crore in Q3 against Rs 36 crore in the previous quarter. Last year in the same quarter (Q3 FY23), it booked Rs 347 crore in losses. On a unit level, the company spent Rs 1.03 to earn a rupee in Q3 of FY24. For the nine months ended period (Apr-Dec 2024), Zomato recorded Rs 8,552 crore revenue from operations with a profit of Rs 176 crore. Zomato made its public market debut in July 2021 at a valuation of $12 billion and touched its peak of over Rs 150 per share in November 2021. Later, it dwindled under Rs 50 during July 2022. Zomato got its momentum back in Q1 of FY24 when it recorded profits for the first time. Since then, the company attained nearly 3X surge in its share price and its current share price stands around Rs 144 a piece.

Travel-tech platform IntrCity, which owns SmartBus and RailYatri, could not replicate its FY23 growth momentum in FY24. After achieving six-fold growth in FY23, the company recorded a modest 16% year-on-year revenue increase for the fiscal year ending March 2024. However, the Nandan Nilekani family trust-backed firm reduced its losses by over 52%, bringing them below Rs 10 crore in FY24. IntrCity's revenue from operations grew 15.9% to Rs 317.34 crore during FY24 as compared to Rs 273.9 crore in FY23, as per the company's consolidated financial statements with the Registrar of Companies. IntrCity operates web and mobile platforms for its brands, SmartBus and RailYatri. The flagship brand, IntrCity SmartBus, caters to long-distance bus routes across India, while RailYatri offers train travel services such as ticket booking and meal ordering. As per the filings, the majority of commission revenue came from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) during FY24. The company collected 93.8% of the revenue from bus operations which went up 16.9% to Rs 297.71 crore in FY24. It also earned Rs 18.08 crore from commission along with Rs 1.55 crore via advertisement services. Additionally, collection from interest and gain on financial assets (non-operating revenue) stood at Rs 3.38 crore. Including this, the company's overall revenue climbed to Rs 320.7 crore in FY24. On the expense side, the cost of revenue (direct cost for the distribution of services) accounted for 68.3% of the total expenditure. This cost grew 14.2% to Rs 225.8 crore in FY24 from Rs 197.8 crore in FY23. Operation and maintenance costs went up 9.3% to Rs 43.5 crore while spending on employee benefits remained almost flat at Rs 36.85 crore during the last fiscal year. The company incurred Rs 7.42 crore on advertisement and promotions and paid Rs 3.9 crore commission for catering and payment gateway services. In the end, IntrCity's expenses increased 9.7% to Rs 330.6 crore during FY24 in comparison to Rs 301.3 crore during FY23. On the back of controlled expenditure and double-digit growth in revenues, the firm managed to bring down its losses by 53.7% to Rs 9.9 crore in FY24. The losses were at Rs 21.4 crore in the previous fiscal year. Operating cash outflows of IntrCity also improved by 69.8% during the period and stood at Rs 6.1 crore. As of the last fiscal year, the firm's outstanding losses stood at Rs 242.5 crore. During FY24, the travel-tech platform managed to improve its EBITDA margin by 459 BPS to -2.08%. On a unit level, IntrCity spent Rs 1.04 to earn an operating revenue during the said period. IntrCity has Rs 17.4 crore in cash and bank balances while its total assets stood at Rs 41.2 crore for the fiscal year ended March 2024. As per the startup data intelligent platform TheKredible, IntrCity has raised over $50 million to date and was valued at around Rs 912 crore or $110 million in the latest funding round in February this year. Among online travel aggregator (OTA) platforms, MakeMyTrip is the largest player in terms of revenue. Ixigo, EaseMyTrip, Yatra, and Cleartrip are also the key players in the segment.
