X (formerly Twitter) is addressing the flood of posts sharing graphic media, violent speech, and hateful conduct about the Israel-Hamas war. X is treating this as a crisis and allowing users to rate misinformation posts, adding contextual notes but not removing them. The challenge of identifying reliable sources is exacerbated by Elon Musk's promotion of dubious accounts. Experts argue that Musk's changes to the platform, including the reduction in staff responsible for content moderation, have made it harder to combat disinformation during this crisis.
