X (formerly Twitter) has temporarily blocked searches for Taylor Swift in response to the proliferation of graphic AI-generated fake images of the singer being posted on the site. The move aims to prioritize safety, but users have found ways to bypass the block by altering the search query. X stated that it is actively removing the identified images and taking action against the accounts responsible. Instagram and Meta's Threads also seem to address the issue, suggesting the term "Taylor Swift AI" but not displaying results. Swift is reportedly considering legal action, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has called for better safeguards against deepfakes.
