Researchers have developed a collective of small robots inspired by embryonic cells, capable of transitioning between solid and liquid states, mimicking the T-1000 from Terminator 2. These robots, equipped with motorized gears and magnets, can interlock and change shape, responding to light signals for movement. Although they're relatively large currently, the goal is miniaturization towards robots roughly 1 to 2 centimeters in size. This development serves as a proof-of-concept for potential future technology.
