The hot social media platform after Brazil's X ban: Bluesky

Bluesky, a social media platform and potential Twitter alternative, gained significant popularity in Brazil after the country banned Elon Musk's platform, X. Within a few days, half a million new users joined Bluesky, which surged to 2 million new users by Monday. The decentralized platform's rise in popularity can be attributed to the ongoing feud between X, Musk, and Brazil's government. Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes ordered the blocking of X due to unpaid fines and content moderation issues. Musk criticized de Moraes on X and accused him of violating Brazil's laws and interfering in elections. Musk's satellite broadband firm, Starlink, was also affected by the dispute, with its finances being frozen. Initially created within Twitter, Bluesky now operates as an independent company and offers similar features to X but with a decentralized network that allows users to have third-party content moderation, run their own servers, and customize their feeds. Bluesky experienced a significant surge in user activity, with millions of likes, follows, reposts, and new users joining the platform within a 96-hour period.
