Pratilipi is an online storytelling platform which essentially focuses on text and audio storytelling in Indian languages such as Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, and Malayalam across various formats including audiobooks, podcasts, comics, web series and movies. Revenue from content and premium subscription services soared 2X to Rs 34.97 crore in FY24 and accounted for 60.5% of total operating revenue. Brand advertising services grew by 79% to Rs 7.53 crore, while the sale of books went up by 62% to Rs 10.62 crore in the last fiscal year. The company made an additional Rs 70 lakh from interest income which pushed its total revenue to Rs 58.5 crore in FY24. Looking at the expenses, employee benefit expenses, the largest cost segment, dropped by 21% to Rs 46.94 crore in FY24. Advertising expenses saw a steep decline of 62% to Rs 19.36 crore in the last fiscal year . Cloud services and software charges also fell down significantly. Overall, Pratilipi’s total expenses fell by 39% to Rs 116.7 crore in FY24. Due to tight control in expenses, the company’s net loss decreased by 62% to Rs 58.13 crore in FY24 from Rs 152.6 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at -81.01% and -89.74%, respectively. On a unit basis, Pratilipi spent Rs 2.02 to earn a rupee in FY24. The company reported Rs 2.3 crore in cash and bank balances and had a current asset of Rs 33.26 crore as of FY24. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the Gurugram-based firm has raised over $80 million to date. Its leading investors include Krafton, Nexus Venture Partners, Omidyar Network, Shunwei Capital and Tencent. Pratilipi's CEO, Ranjeet Pratap Singh, recently said that the company aims to launch an initial public offering (IPO) in January 2026, depending on market conditions. He also mentioned plans to raise $12 million in a pre-IPO funding round, potentially at a lower valuation.

It also earned Rs 6 crore from interest and the sale of current investments, bringing its total revenue to Rs 281 crore in FY24. With a presence in the USA, APAC, UAE, Europe, and Canada, the company generated Rs 122 crore from international markets. Like other SaaS firms, employee benefits were the largest cost center for the company, accounting for 71% of total expenses. This expense surged 87% to Rs 245 crore in FY24 from Rs 131 crore in FY23. Notably, the firm has a dedicated workforce of over 2,000 professionals. Technical services, rent, travel, advertising, and legal expenses were among the key overheads that pushed Celebal Technologies’ total expenditure up by 73%—from Rs 199 crore in FY23 to Rs 344 crore in FY24. An 87% rise in employee benefits—primarily salaries and wages—outpaced revenue growth, pushing Celebal Technologies’ losses to Rs 60 crore in FY24 from Rs 1 crore in FY23. For the full fiscal year ending March 2025, total expenses rose to Rs 7,185 crore. A higher decline in sales caused Ola Electric's losses to rise by 106% in Q4 FY25, reaching Rs 862 crore compared to Rs 418 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q4 FY24). For FY25, the firm’s losses stood at Rs 2,276 crore in FY25, up from Rs 1,584 crore in FY24. Recently, Ola Electric Mobility has approved a plan to raise up to Rs 1,700 crore through debt instruments. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led company secured the second position in the electric two-wheeler segment in April, with TVS Motor emerging as the market leader. For the first time, Ather Energy has surpassed Ola Electric in quarterly revenue. In Q4 FY25, Ather reported an operating revenue of Rs 676 crore, ahead of Ola Electric’s Rs 611 crore. In FY24, Bloom Hotels saw its operational revenue rise by 73.6% to Rs 250 crore, with a profit of Rs 14 crore. Ten-years-old Keka's revenue from operations grew to Rs 78 crore in FY24 from Rs 48 crore in FY23, its annual financial statements sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) show. Founded in 2015 by Vijay Yalamanchili, Keka provides HR-related solutions that aim to streamline and automate payroll, recruiting, leave and attendance, performance management, and more. According to the company, its HR application is embraced by 2.5 million employees. For the SaaS startup, the subscription income from the sale of its closed-based HR and payroll management software (Keka HR) accounted for 97.4% of its overall operating revenue which grew 60% to Rs 76 crore in FY24. The remaining revenue came from one-time implementation fees for the WestBridge Capital-backed firm. The company also added Rs 9 crore from interest on deposits and current investments, which led its total revenue to Rs 87 crore in FY24, as compared to Rs 54 crore in FY23. Similar to other SaaS companies, employee benefits accounted for 64.5% of the overall expenditure. This cost spiked 94% to Rs 107 crore in FY24. It includes Rs 6 crore ESOP cost which is non-cash in nature. Keka's advertising spend surged 3.6X to Rs 22 crore in FY24. Its informational technology, rent, traveling, legal, and other overheads took the total expenditure up by 100% to Rs 166 crore in FY24 from Rs 83 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBIDTA ratios were recorded at -85% and -89%, respectively. Keka's expense-to-earning ratio stood at Rs 2.13. During the end of FY24, its total current assets registered at 97 crore including the cash and bank balance of Rs 88 crore. Keka has raised around $59 million to date including a $57 million Series A led by WestBridge Capital in November 2022. Progcap made an additional Rs 20 crore from interest on deposits and gains on current investments which pushed its total income to Rs 159 crore in FY24 from Rs 102 crore in FY23. On the expense side, employee benefit costs remained the largest expenditure, accounting for 61% of the total expense, to the tune of scale. This cost grew by 15% to Rs 124 crore in FY24. The firm’s finance costs surged sharply to Rs 22.5 crore from just Rs 1 crore in FY23. Other major expenses included collection deficiency charges (Rs 9.5 crore), travel expenses (Rs 6 crore), and miscellaneous costs. Overall, the company’s total expenses grew by 36% to Rs 203 crore in FY24 from Rs 149 crore in the preceding fiscal year. Progcap managed to cut its losses by 6% to Rs 46 crore in FY24 from Rs 49 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA Margin improved to -2.96% and -11.32% respectively. On a unit basis, the company spent Rs 1.46 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY24. The Delhi-based firm reported current assets worth Rs 1,321 crore which include Rs 163 crore of cash and bank balance in FY24. According to TheKredible, Progcap has raised a total of approx $112 million in funding to date, having Tiger Global, Peak XV, Creation Investments, and GrowX Ventures as its lead investors. Progcap’s co-founders, Pallavi Shrivastava and Himanshu Chandra, collectively hold a 23.41% stake in the company.

The sale of its products through offline stores and websites in India and the international market was the primary source of revenue, accounting for nearly 82% of total operating revenue, while its subsidiary, GlobalBees, contributed Rs 422 crore. The company also made Rs 44 crore from interest income which took its overall revenue to Rs 2,217 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 1,936 crore in Q3 FY24. For the omnichannel retailer, the cost of procurement of materials accounted for 66% of the overall expenditure which increased 17% year-on-year to Rs 1,451 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 1,239 crore in Q3 FY24. FirstCry’s employee benefits stood at Rs 177 crore in Q3 FY25 which includes Rs 28 crore as ESOP cost. The marketing, legal, rent, and technology were other overheads that pushed the overall expenditure to Rs 2,210 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 1,978 crore in Q3 FY24. The decent scale and controlled expenditure helped FirstCry to reduce its losses by 70% to Rs 15 crore in the last quarter. Notably, the company reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 152 crore. As of the last trading session, FirstCry’s share price stood at Rs 419 per share, with a total market capitalization of Rs 21,753.8 crore (approximately $2.5 billion).

Its payment gateway, website/server, customer verification, and legal costs took the overall expenditure up by 55.6% to Rs 389 crore in FY24 from Rs 250 crore in FY23. The decent surge in scale and controlled expenditure helped Moonshine to increase its profits by 26.3% to Rs 24 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 19 crore in FY23. The company's ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at 20% and 10.1%, respectively, while its expense-to-earnings ratio was recorded at Rs 0.94. During FY24, Moonshine’s total current assets stood at Rs 236 crore with cash and bank balances of Rs 196 crore. Out of Rs 982 crore ($118 million), Nazara has already invested $100 million and acquired a 47.7% stake in the company through a combination of secondary and primary share purchases.
