Polaris Dawn astronauts perform historic private spacewalk while wearing SpaceX-made suits

Four private astronauts conducted the first commercial spacewalk as part of the Polaris Dawn mission. Two of the crew members exited the SpaceX Dragon capsule, donning the lightweight and mobility-focused SpaceX-made spacesuits. The astronauts were connected to the spacecraft by umbilical cords and used a ladder mobility aid called "skywalker" to maneuver outside the capsule. Each person spent less than ten minutes outside, testing the suits' performance and mobility. The historic spacewalk is a significant milestone for SpaceX's private spaceflight ambitions. The mission also includes various science experiments and tests of laser communications with Starlink internet satellites.
