PM Modi pitches India to chip makers, talks of supply chain resilience

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of resilient supply chains and emphasized the need for investments in domestic semiconductor manufacturing during his speech at the SEMICON 2024 conference. With the Covid-19 pandemic exposing vulnerabilities in global supply chains, the Prime Minister stressed the need for India to develop a strong supply chain in various sectors. He expressed India's ambition to become a semiconductor powerhouse and strive to have an Indian-made chip in every device worldwide. Modi also mentioned the significant investments and projects already underway in semiconductor manufacturing, as well as the goal of boosting India's electronics sector to over $500 billion by the end of the decade.
