MNCs rewarded with high multiples in India, makes sense to monetise partial stake: BofA

Indian businesses of multinational companies (MNCs) are experiencing rapid growth, leading to high valuation multiples and attracting capital from investors. Raj Balakrishnan, Managing Director at Bank of America, suggests that MNCs can monetize part of their stake in Indian units to fund operations or opportunities elsewhere. Recent examples include British American Tobacco's stake sale in ITC Ltd and Whirlpool's divestment in Whirlpool of India. Balakrishnan notes that the increasing deal sizes and private equity firms buying stakes indicate the maturation of Indian markets. He believes that recent market corrections should not unsettle traders, as Indian markets have consistently outperformed others.
