Biopharma startup Lamark Biotech has raised Rs 6.5 crore in a pre-Series A round led by IAN Group, including IAN Alpha Fund, powered by BioAngels, Vinayender Tulla, Nita Roy, and Venkataraman KNK. Domain experts from IANโ€™s angel investors led the round. The Ahmedabad-based company had previously raised $41.3K in a seed funding round led by VIT-TBI and others. The fresh funds will be utilized to accelerate the development of thermostable insulin and expand the biologics platform for global access, Lamark said in a press release. Founded in 2018 by Vaibhav Bhatia, Lamark Biotech aims to reimagine drug delivery for chronic and life-altering diseases. Its proprietary ProteoStrong platform enables the stabilization of fragile protein-based drugs, such as insulin, monoclonal antibodies, and enzymes, without altering their molecular structure. According to Lamark Biotech, it leverages the R&D base of Venture Center, NCL Innovation, and it is advancing a new class of temperature-resilient biologics that retain potency across extreme conditionsโ€”ideal for underserved regions where cold storage infrastructure is limited. With its lead program, InsulinStrong, Lamark is targeting the Rs 4,000 crore Indian insulin market and intends to expand across Southeast Asia and the UAE. In the next 24 months, it plans to file new international patents, begin early clinical trials, and build partnerships with pharma companies, CDMOs, and global health agencies.

Exclusive: Zypp Electric raises $6.5 Mn in ongoing Series C B2B delivery and shared mobility startup Zypp Electric is raising Rs 55.4 crore ($6.5 million) from 16 investors, which seems to be part of the ongoing Series C funding round for the Gurugram-based company. The board at Zypp Electric has passed a special resolution to issue 564 Series C2 CCPS at an issue price of Rs 9,83,005 each to raise Rs 55.4 crore, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Individuals including Ajay Kumar Aggarwal, Samir Goenka, Narinder Bajaj, Kapil Kriplani, Vega Industries, Gagan Khanna, Supersonic Carrier, Nirmal K Bathwal, and 10 other investors will cumulatively participate during the investment. According to Entrackrโ€™s estimates, the company will be valued at around $335-350 million. This seems to be part of an ongoing round, and the valuation may vary with further injection. According to the company, it may raise up to $50 million in the Series C fundraise. In May last year, Zypp kicked off the new round with a $15 million tranche led by ENEOS. The company was backed by IAN Fund, 9 Unicorns (now 100 Unicorns), Anthill Ventures, Eiman Abdullah Mahfood Al Qatar, and others. Founded by Akash Gupta and Rashi Agrawal in 2017, Zypp Electric is an EV-as-a-service platform offering electric vehicle rentals along with delivery services through its e-scooter fleet for gig workers. The company claims to have around 22,000 active vehicles in its fleet, with 15,000 in Delhi NCR, 4,000 in Bengaluru, and 1,200 in Mumbai. Zypp Electric witnessed significant 2.6X growth, with its operating revenue crossing Rs 290 crore during the fiscal year ended March 2024. However, in pursuit of scale, the losses for the firm rose 2.2X to Rs 91 crore in the same period.

Cancer focused biotech startup Immuneel Therapeutics has raised Rs 100 crore or $12 million in the extension of Series A round from Taiba Middle East FZ LLC. This is the third round of investment for the Bengaluru-based company since its inception in 2018. The board at Immuneel Therapeutic has passed a special resolution to issue 1o equity shares and 8,164 Series A1 CCPS at an issue price of Rs 1,22,330 each to raise Rs 100 crore or $12 million, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies show. The company will use these investments for growth and expansion as decided by the board, the filings further added. As per TheKredibleโ€™s estimates, the firm has been valued at around Rs 587 crore or $71 million (post-allotment). Following the fresh proceeds, Taiba Middle East FZ holds a 17% stake in Immuneel Therapeutics. The round appears to be ongoing and it may raise more funds. The company has raised around $40 million to date including its $15 million Series A financing co-led by Eight Roads Ventures, True North, and F-Prime Capital in 2022. Founded by Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, oncologist and Pulitzer winner โ€” Siddhartha Mukherjee and Kush Parwar, Immuneel Therapeutics is an Indian clinical-stage startup which is engaged in developing cell and gene therapies for cancer patients. Itโ€™s also working on developing its own pipeline of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies and other cellular immunotherapies for management and treatment of cancer. The firm claims to offer therapies at one-third of the costs borne for gene therapies in America. While the company is yet to file its annual statements for FY24, six-year-old Immuneel Therapeutics remained at a pre-revenue stage in FY23. Its losses stood at Rs 39 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023.
