Everstone Capital and the Ranjit Bhavnani family, founder-promoters of Calibre Chemicals, are planning to sell a combined 90% stake in the Mumbai-based specialty chemicals company. The deal is estimated to be worth around $200 million, or INR 1,500 crore. Everstone had acquired a controlling stake in Calibre Chemicals in 2021 for $100 million, and the company has since made several acquisitions to capitalize on the increasing demand for specialty chemicals. Calibre Chemicals' consolidated sales for FY23 stood at INR 1,013 crore, with a net profit of INR 131 crore. However, the company has faced challenges from increased competition and input cost volatility in the specialty chemicals sector.
