Indonesia is threatening to shut down social media platform X if it fails to comply with regulations against adult content. The country, known for its strict rules on obscenity, has warned X and invoked the electronic information and transaction (ITE) law, which carries a potential jail sentence for spreading pornographic material. X, owned by Elon Musk, recently updated its policies to allow consensually produced adult content. The platform has not responded to Indonesia's warning, and the government plans to send further letters before making a final decision. X has a significant user base in Indonesia, with 24.85 million users.
