India’s Import Duties On ICT: New Delhi, Chinese Taipei Ask WTO To Delay Ruling Till July

Chinese Taipei and India have requested the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to postpone any ruling regarding India's imposition of import duties on certain information and communication technology (ICT) products until July 26, 2024. The dispute originated in 2019 when Chinese Taipei filed a case against India in the WTO. The parties have engaged in talks to resolve the issue, and the WTO's dispute settlement body (DSB) has agreed to their requests for delay. The dispute panel previously found India's import duties to violate global trading norms. This development coincides with India's increased domestic production of mobile phones.
