India must build human resources in quantum technology: Principal scientific advisor

India needs to invest heavily in developing human resources in quantum technology, according to Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the government. Sood emphasized the need for professionals in the nascent field and stressed the importance of higher education and specialized training programs. He also highlighted the need for domestic manufacturing capabilities for quantum computing equipment, which is currently mostly imported. India's pre-mission programs have already fostered a community of about 150-200 quantum researchers, and the government aims to support startups through the National Quantum Mission. The mission's goals include developing quantum computers, secure communications, and advanced quantum technologies.
