How BharatGPT’s Indic-First LLM Is Bridging Language Barriers, Empowering Enterprises

OpenAI's ChatGPT, powered by generative AI (GenAI), is a major breakthrough in natural language understanding and processing. The intelligent chatbot utilizes large language models to generate content in various formats and languages. McKinsey & Company estimates that GenAI and other technologies could automate the majority of work activities, leading to increased productivity. However, there are concerns about GenAI falling short of community expectations, as demonstrated by the limited accuracy in generating a portrait of Lord Rama. Access to information is a crucial aspect of GenAI's future, as there is a significant gap in availability of non-English content for the majority of the Indian population. OpenAI is continually working to improve the conversational abilities of its GenAI models, with claims that the upcoming GPT-4o will be faster and more natural in its responses.

Bhavish Aggarwal launches Krutrim AI Labs with Rs 2,000 Cr investment Ola’s founder and chief, Bhavish Aggarwal, has announced the launch of the Krutrim AI Labs to develop artificial intelligence specifically designed for India. As part of this initiative, he has committed an initial investment of Rs 2,000 crore, with a larger commitment of Rs 10,000 crore by next year. The funding will be used to establish the AI lab and develop advanced AI models tailored for Indian users. According to Aggarwal, Krutrim AI Lab will address challenges related to Indic languages, data scarcity, and cultural context. "While we’ve been working on AI for a year, today we’re releasing our work to the open-source community and also publishing a number of technical reports. Our focus is on developing AI for India—to improve AI for Indian languages, data scarcity, and cultural context," Aggarwal shared on X (formerly Twitter).
