Electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy has entered into a coveted unicorn club with $71 million in funding from existing investor National Investment and Infrastructure Fund last month. Entrackr has gone through its regulatory filings to decode round break up, shareholding pattern, and current valuation. The board at Ather Energy has passed a special resolution to issue 1,65,28,925 Series G compulsory cumulative preference shares at an issue price of Rs 363 each to raise Rs 600 crore or $72 million, its regulatory filing accessed from RoC shows. According to the data intelligence platform TheKredible, Hero MotoCorp remains the largest external stakeholder with 38.11% after this round, followed by Caladium Investment which holds 16.3%. NIIF, Tiger Global, and Zerodha brothers are other notable investors in Ather Energy. See TheKredible for the complete shareholding. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer was valued at $1.25 billion post-allotment, as per Fintrackr’s estimates. Ather posted Rs 339 crore of revenue during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year with a net loss of Rs 183 crore in the same period, according to its internal document seen by Entrackr. In FY24, the firm reported a modest decline in its revenue which stood at Rs 1754 crore. Ather’s rival Ola Electric, which went public last month, posted Rs 1,644 crore in revenue during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year, marking its net loss down by 17% to Rs 347 crore. According to Ather, its market share in the electric two-wheeler segment was 9% in the first quarter of FY25, down from 11% in FY24. Meanwhile, Ola Electric’s market share increased to 42% in Q1 FY25, and TVS Electric secured the second position with a 19% share during the same period. Notably, Ola Electric’s market share declined in the first two months of Q2 FY25 (July and August).

Omnichannel jewellery retailer Bluestone has raised Rs 600 crore (approximately $72 million) led by Prosus (through its subsidiary MIH Investments) and with participation from Steadview, Think Investments, and Pratithi Growth Fund. The board at Bluestone has passed a special resolution 1,03,80,622 Series H compulsory cumulative preference shares at an issue price of Rs 578 to raise Rs 600 crore or $72 million, its internal fining accessed by Entrackr from Registrar of Companies show. Prosus led the round with Rs 351 crore or $42.2 million while Steadview Capital, Think Investments and Pratithi Growth Fund pumped in Rs 80 crore, Rs 84 crore, and Rs 35 crore respectively. The 27 other investors participated with the rest of the primary capital into Bluestone. This is part of an earlier reported Rs 900 crore pre-IPO round out of which Rs 300 crore is secondary. The funds will be used for expansion, ongoing operations, capital expenditure, and other general corporate purposes, the filing further added. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company has been valued at around $972 million post-allotment. Following the fresh proceeds, Prosus holds 4.48% of the company while Steadview Capital, Think Investments and Pratithi Growth command 1.04%, 1.10%, and 1.08%, respectively. Founded in 2011 by Gaurav Singh Kushwaha, Bluestone provides an extensive jewellery collection for both men and women, available through its website and network of offline stores. According to the firm’s website, it operates over 190 stores across 75 cities. Bluestone continued to grow its revenue and narrow losses in the fiscal year ending March 2023. During the fiscal, the firm achieved 65% year-on-growth and its collection stood at Rs 787 crore. Its losses dwindled 87% to Rs 167 crore. It’s yet to file its annual results for FY24. Bluestone’s close competitor CaratLane, which is owned by Titan, reported Rs 3,081 crore revenue with Rs 79 crore profit in FY24.

Electric scooter maker Ather Energy has raised Rs 286 crore or $34.5 million through debt and equity. This is the first round of investment for the Bengaluru-based company this year. Stride Ventures invested Rs 200 crore via debentures while co-founders of the company Tarun Sanjay Mehta and Swapnil Babanlal Jain pumped in Rs 43.28 crore each via Series F preference shares, its regulatory filings accessed from the Registrar of Companies show. Ather Energy raised its second-largest funding worth Rs 900 crore ($108 million) from existing investors Hero MotoCorp and GIC through right issue in December last year. In the same month, Hero MotoCorp also acquired an additional 3% stake in Ather for Rs 140 crore (approximately $16.8 million). Recently, a media report said that Ather is in talks to raise $95 million in a pre IPO round. Another report added that Ather’s existing backer Sachin Bansal has sold a significant portion of his stake in the company to Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamath. As per TheKredible, Ather was valued at $750 million during the Series E round in May 2022. However, it has not disclosed its valuation since then. It’s likely to get unicorn status in the upcoming round. Ather has raised around $450 million to date. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Hero MotoCorp is the largest external stakeholder followed by Sachin Bansal, Caladium Investment, and Tiger Global. Ather’s revenue from operations surged 4.36X to Rs 1,784 crore in FY23 while its losses spiked 2.5X to Rs 864.5 crore in the same period. The company is yet to file its financial results for FY24. Electric two-wheelers saw a 50% drop in overall sales in April when compared to March. Ather Energy, which sold 17,000 units in March, saw 4,000 units sold in April. Ola Electric sold over 33,000 units, contributing about 50% to the overall sales in the last month.

Policybazaar and Paisabazaar’s parent, PB Fintech, reported a 7.3% decline in its revenue during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal (FY25) year. The firm, however, managed to keep its grip on the profit numbers in the same period as compared to the previous quarter (Q4 FY24). PB Fintech’s revenue slipped to Rs 1,010 crore in Q1 FY25 as compared to Rs 1,090 crore during the quarter ended March 2024, as per the company’s disclosure with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Insurance broking formed 83.6% of the collections which decreased 7.5% to Rs 845 crore during Q1 FY25. The income from other operating activities, which include marketing, advertising, consulting, and support services, plunged 5.7% to Rs 165 crore in the same period. The firm earned Rs 100 crore from non-operating activities including financial income, tallying its overall revenue to Rs 1,111 crore in Q1 FY24. For PB Fintech, employee benefits cost remained the largest cost center forming 42% of the overall expenditure. This cost saw a mere increase of 3.4% QoQ to Rs 455 crore in the past quarter (Q1 FY25). The company’s spending on finance, advertising-promotion, network, internet, and other overheads pushed its total expenditure to Rs 1,081 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 1,114 crore in Q4 FY24. Despite the decline in scale, PB Fintech has managed to maintain steady profits, which stood at Rs 60 crore in Q1 FY25. On a unit level, the Gurugram-based firm spent Rs 1.07 to earn a rupee in Q1 FY25. PB Fintech ended the day (August 6) with a share price of Rs 1,425 and its total market capitalization was Rs 64,984 crore, or $7.2 billion.

B2B e-commerce unicorn Zetwerk has raised Rs 75 crore (around $8.8 million) in debt funding from JM Financial, one of the banks it has reportedly appointed for its planned initial public offering (IPO). As per regulatory filings accessed via the Registrar of Companies (RoC), the company’s board issued 7,500 non-convertible debentures having a face value of Rs 1,00,000 each to raise the above-mentioned amount. Founded by Amrit Acharya, Srinath Ramakkrushnan, Rahul Sharma, and Vishal Chaudhary, Zetwerk connects buyers with suppliers for manufacturing projects. It partners with vendors specializing in fabrication, machining, casting, forging, and galvanizing of machine parts. It’s operational in India, the US, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the Peak XV-backed company has raised over $850 million to date, including debt. This includes a $67 million Series F round led by Khosla Ventures at a $3 billion valuation, as exclusively reported by Entrackr. Zetwerk plans to raise at least $500 million through its IPO in the next 12 to 24 months, targeting a valuation of around $5 billion. While it has yet to disclose its FY25 numbers, the Bengaluru-based company reported a 26% increase in gross revenue, rising to Rs 14,435.72 crore in FY24 from Rs 11,448.66 crore in FY23. However, during the same period, losses surged 9X to Rs 919 crore, which included exceptional items worth Rs 371.7 crore. In the B2B e-commerce space, Zetwerk competes with Infra.Market, which recently raised $150 million in debt from Mars Growth Capital, and IPO-bound OfBusiness, which recently secured Rs 100 crore in funding. It also rivals Moglix, another unicorn in the segment.

According to consolidated financial statements reviewed by Entrackr, Oxyzo’s operating revenue rose to Rs 1,207 crore in FY25, up from Rs 903 crore in FY24. Following a 58% year-on-year growth in FY24, B2B fintech unicorn Oxyzo Financial Services continued its strong momentum in FY25, recording a 33.7% YoY increase in revenue for the fiscal year ended March 2025. The company also reported a 16.5% rise in profit during the same period. Oxyzo, the lending arm of the industrial goods and services procurement platform OfBusiness, offers credit solutions and loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Interest income from loan disbursements contributed 95% of its total operating revenue, which rose to Rs 1,141 crore in FY25. The remaining revenue came from fees and commissions. As a lending-focused company, finance costs emerged as the largest expense for Oxyzo, accounting for 58% of its total spending. These costs climbed to Rs 439 crore in FY25, in line with the company's expanding scale. Oxyzo spent Rs 143 crore on employee benefits. Its legal, impairment, administrative, and other operational expenses contributed to a total expenditure of Rs 755 crore in FY25, up from Rs 514 crore in FY24. The combination of topline growth and controlled cost mechanism helped the company post a 16.5% growth in profits, which rose to Rs 339 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 291 crore in the previous fiscal year. Oxyzo raised approximately $200 million in 2022, achieving unicorn status following its Series A round led by Alpha Wave and Tiger Global. The company also plans to raise a fresh round of equity in the second half of FY26 in the range of $100-150 million. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the OFB group, including its promoters, holds a 74.5% stake, while Alpha Wave is the largest external investor with a 7.4% share, followed by Tiger Global. Its parent OfBusiness is also gearing up for a $1 billion IPO, expected to include a combination of a fresh issue and an offer for sale.

Blinkit has displayed outstanding growth since getting acquired by Zomato in 2022, a deal that many considered a distressed one, for $569 million. Not only the quick commerce firm has seen growth in topline but also turned profitable*. Many experts are apprehensive about the quick commerce model as they believe economics won’t work out in the ten-minute delivery. Blinkit, however, appears to have proven this notion wrong through its latest numbers. Blinkit saw an exceptional 2.4X year-on-year growth in revenue to Rs 942 crore in June 2024 from Rs 384 crore in June 2023, its financial statements filed by the Zomato Group with the NSE show. The consistent growth in scale and effective cost-cutting measures enabled Blinkit to turn around its bottom line —shifting from a loss of Rs 105 crore in Q1 FY23 to a profit of Rs 43 crore in the last quarter. Importantly, Blinkit’s profit zoomed 23X QoQ to Rs 43 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 2 crore Q4 FY24. The quick commerce biz along with Hyperpure spiked the Zomato group’s profit by 44.6% to Rs 253 crore in Q1 FY25 *Caveat: Blinkit’s profit figures do not include other income and non-cash elements including ESOPs, depreciation and finance costs. As per Zomato, BlinkIt’s adjusted EBITDA stood at negative Rs 3 crore in the last quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q1 FY25). Blinkit’s gross order value (GOV) surged 2.3X to Rs 4,923 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 2,140 in Q1 FY FY24 while its numbers of order grew in a similar pattern to 78.8 million during the same period. The Q1 numbers drive home the point that you underestimate, or even write off Zomato at your own peril. Besides an almost Teflon-like ability to shrug off controversies, the firm has built a bit of a reputation for its unconventional approach to business, including its marketing, with the numbers to justify it. Even now, many people have rushed to say Blinkit will be the horse pulling the group wagon soon, but we wouldn’t go as far as that. Besides the almost duopoly we have in the market today nationally between Zomato and Swiggy, Zomato’s other diversifications might yet surprise too. Be it Dine Out or Live events, none have come with quite the barrage of negativism that had greeted Blinkit, and yet, we know the story only too well. Zomato’s high valuation certainly has enough behind it for now.

Mobility startup Rapido recently turned unicorn after raising $120 million in a Series E funding round from WestBridge Capital through its various investment vehicles including SETU AIF and Konark. While the firm didn’t announce the funding officially, Entrackr has sifted through its regulatory filings to decode every detail of the round which was entirely led by WestBridge —an uncommon deal in the ecosystem. The board at Rapido has passed a special resolution to issue 10 equity, 95,479 Series E, and 95,489 Series E1 compulsory convertible preferred shares at Rs 52,467 each to raise Rs 1,002 crore (approximately $120 million) from WestBridge Capital through its 3 investment vehicles including SETU AIF, Konark, and MMPL Trust. Notably, shares issued worth Rs 501 crore were fully paid-up shares while the other 50% is partly-paid up. This essentially means that Rapido will receive the partly paid amount (Rs 501 crore) in tranches. Rapido will use the proceeds for expansion and growth, as per filings. According to the startup data intelligence platform, TheKredible’s estimates, Rapido was valued at around Rs 8,517 crore (approximately $1.02 billion) in the series E round. With this investment, WestBridge remained the largest external stakeholder with 32.88%, followed by Swiggy and Nexus Ventures, which own 12.32% and 8.19%, respectively. See TheKredibe for the complete shareholding pattern. Rapido also claimed to have left Ola behind and became the number two player after Uber in the overall ride-hailing space (bike, auto, and cabs). As of March 2024, Uber processed 19.3 lakh rides on a daily basis while Rapido did 16.5 lakh rides a day followed by Ola which did 13 lakh rides, as per Rapido’s internal documents reviewed by Entrackr. While Rapido is yet to disclose FY24 numbers, the firm’s operating revenue surged 3X to Rs 443 crore during FY23. The steep growth in scale also caused a 54% spike in losses, which stood at Rs 675 crore in FY23.

Exclusive: Oxyzo secures Rs 100 Cr debt Fintech unicorn Oxyzo has secured Rs 100 crore (approximately $12 million) in debt from AK Capital Finance, a subsidiary of merchant banker A.K. Capital Services Ltd. The boards at Oxyzo allotted 1,00,000 non-convertible debentures to AK Capital at an issue price of Rs 10,000 each to raise Rs 100 crore, its regulatory filing sourced from the Registrar of Companies shows. The aforementioned debentures are issued for a tenure of 24 months and carry an interest rate of 9.75% per annum, the filing added. The proceeds will be used to augment the long-term resources of the company and meet working capital requirements. Oxyzo is the lending arm of B2B e-commerce unicorn OfBusiness, providing customized credit solutions for SMEs. It offers a range of loan products, including term loans, working capital solutions, low-interest rates, and collateral-free credit options. According to data intelligence platform TheKredible, the Gurugram-based company reported operating revenue of over Rs 900 crore and a profit of Rs 290 crore for the financial year ending 2024. Oxyzo’s net profit grew 11.38% to Rs 82.89 crore and sales jumped 27.43% to Rs 282.80 crore in the quarter ended December 2024 (Q3 FY25), compared to Rs 221.93 crore in December 2023. The Ruchi Kalra-led firm achieved unicorn status by raising $200 million in its first external funding round, and it became the first startup to surpass a $1 billion valuation during its Series A round. As per TheKredible, OFB group including promoters holds 74.5% while Alpha Wave is the largest external stakeholder with 7.4% followed by Tiger Global.
