DPIIT recognises 1.40 lakh entities as startups as on June 30

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has recognized 1.4 lakh entities as startups, making them eligible for various incentives including income tax benefits. The recognition comes under the Startup India initiative, which aims to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and encouraging investments in startups. Maharashtra has the highest number of recognized startups, followed by Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. The government has also approved funds for startups through schemes like Startup India Seed Fund and Fund of Funds for Startups. Additionally, over 5.7 lakh sellers and service providers are registered on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), promoting open networks for digital transactions.
