Downstream spacetech is workhorse of India's space sector: Experts

The downstream spacetech market presents significant opportunities for the private sector, according to Nilesh M Desai, Director of the Space Application Centre. During the Bengaluru Space Expo, Desai emphasized the importance of tapping into the ground and user segments of the spacetech market, which transform space data into practical applications. He highlighted the potential for startups in areas such as geographic information systems (GIS), earth observation, space communication, and space navigation. The Indian government is also actively promoting the use of space data in industries, including decision support systems, mapping and monitoring applications, and disaster management solutions.
