Discord opens up to games and apps embedded in its chat app

Discord is expanding its platform to allow developers to build new games and apps that can be used directly within its chat app. The Embedded App SDK, set to launch on March 18th, will give Discord developers more access to create embedded apps that can be played within Discord chats. This move is aimed at making Discord the go-to platform for developers to build, share, distribute, monetize, and discover new apps. Discord is also experimenting with allowing users to add apps to their accounts, roaming across servers. Additionally, Discord will bring back its app pitches, providing funding opportunities for prototype app ideas.
