HUL acquires 90.5% stake in Minimalist at Rs 2,955 Cr valuation Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), a fast-moving consumer goods company, has acquired the homegrown skincare brand Minimalist at a pre-money valuation of Rs 2,955 crore (nearly $350 million). The board at HUL has entered into the Share purchase agreement for the acquisition of 90.5% of Minimalist shares at a cash consideration of Rs 2,670 crore (secondary buyout) along with Rs 45 crore as a primary infusion in the company. The transaction is expected to be completed in Q1 of FY 2026 and the remaining 9.5% shareholding of Uprising in about two years from the completion date, the filing sourced from NSE added. This is one of the largest deals in the direct-to-consumer (D2C) space in recent years. Founded by serial entrepreneurs Mohit and Rahul Yadav, Minimalist is a skin and hair care brand offering products such as serums, toners, and moisturizers. The sale of these products was the sole source of revenue for the brand in the last fiscal year. The founder duo will continue to lead the company for next two years. Minimalist's revenue surged to Rs 347 crore in FY24 from Rs 184 crore in FY23. Despite higher marketing costs, profits doubled to Rs 10.83 crore in FY24. According to the company, the business has rapidly scaled to cross an annual revenue runrate (ARR) of Rs 500 crore in a short span of four years. Minimalist has raised $17 million, including a Series A round led by Peak XV, which holds a 27.9% stake. Co-founders Mohit and Rahul Yadav control 62% of the company.

Fintech firm Paytm announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year (Q4 FY25) on Tuesday. The Noida-based company reported a revenue of Rs 1,911 crore and a net loss of Rs 23 crore for the period. According to Paytm’s consolidated quarterly report filed with the National Stock Exchange, its revenue from operations declined by 16% year-on-year from Rs 2,267 crore in Q4 FY24 to Rs 1,911 crore in Q4 FY25. Meanwhile, for the full fiscal year, the Noida-based firm’s revenue fell 31% to Rs 6,900 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2025 from Rs 9,977 crore in FY24. Paytm has not disclosed its revenue breakup. The company also added Rs 224 crore from other non-operating sources, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 2,135 crore in Q4 FY25. According to the company, its Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) for the quarter stood at Rs 5.1 Lakh crore, while its average monthly transacting users (MTUs) increased to 7.2 crore in the previous quarter. For the fintech firm, its employee benefits remained the largest cost center, accounting for 35% of the overall cost, which decreased by 32% to Rs 748 crore in Q4 FY25. Its payment processing charges reduced by 27% to Rs 52 crore, and marketing expenses increased by 10% to Rs 142 crore in Q4 FY25. Software, communication, legal, cashback, and other overheads took the total expenditure to Rs 2,155 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 2,691 crore in Q4 FY24. Paytm reduced its losses by 96% to Rs 23 crore in Q4 FY25, down from Rs 536 crore in Q4 FY24. This figure excludes a one-time cost of Rs 522 crore, which includes Rs 492 crore in ESOP expenses and Rs 17 crore in transaction costs related to the sale of its movie ticketing business. As of May 6, Paytm’s share price fell over 6% to Rs 816 with the total market capitalization standing at Rs 52,082 crore.

Delhivery reports Rs 70 Cr profit in Q4 FY25; revenue jumps 6% Logistics company Delhivery announced its Q4 FY25 results on Friday, reporting a 6% year-on-year increase in revenue. The Gurugram-based firm also reported a profit of Rs 72 crore during the same period. Delhivery’s revenue from operations grew to Rs 2,191 crore in Q4 FY25, according to its financial statements filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). For the full fiscal year (FY25), Delhivery’s operating revenue increased 10% to Rs 8,932 crore in FY25 from Rs 8,141 crore in FY24. Delhivery's primary revenue sources were its logistics services, including warehousing, last-mile logistics, and designing and deploying logistics management systems. The firm also earned Rs 112 crore from non-operating activities, bringing its total revenue to Rs 2,303 crore in Q4 FY25. Meanwhile, for the full fiscal year, total income reached Rs 9,372 crore. For Delhivery, freight handling and servicing costs made up 70% of its total expenditure, rising by 3% to Rs 1,566 crore in Q4 FY25. Employee benefit expenses decreased by 6% to Rs 337 crore. Legal, depreciation, and other overhead costs contributed to a minor decrease in overall expenditure, which reached Rs 2,249 crore during the quarter. For the full financial year ending March 2025, the firm’s total expenses rose to Rs 9,217 crore as against Rs 8,825 crore in FY24. Delhivery's continued growth and controlled expenditure resulted in a profit of Rs 72 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to a loss of Rs 68 crore in Q4 FY24. On a fiscal basis, it turned profitable and reported a net profit of Rs 162 crore in FY25 as compared to a loss of Rs 249 crore in FY24. At the close of today’s trading session, Delhivery’s share price stood at Rs 321 per share, giving the company a market capitalization of Rs 23,957 crore.

A23-parent Head Digital Works acquires Adda52 for Rs 491 Cr Online gaming company Head Digital Works (HDW), the parent company of gaming firm A23, has acquired Deltatech Gaming, the operator of online poker platform Adda52. HDW announced in a press release that the acquisition aims to strengthen its online poker portfolio. The transaction will take place in two phases for a total consideration of Rs 491 crore ($57.5 million). Initially, Head Digital Works will acquire a 51% stake in Deltatech Gaming following the merger. Post-merger, DeltaCorp Limited will retain a 5.7% stake in Head Digital Works. Through this acquisition, HDW aims to leverage Adda52’s expertise and technological capabilities to accelerate its growth in the online gaming market. Launched in 2011, Adda52 offers a poker experience with various game formats, tournaments, and cash games, attracting both casual and professional poker players across India. According to HDW, the acquisition will enhance the gaming experience, drive technological advancements, and cater to evolving user preferences. The company plans to expand its poker business, explore new growth avenues, and build a comprehensive and diversified skill-gaming platform for its customers. A23 claims to have over 75 million registered users across India and operates five games - rummy, fantasy, poker, carrom, and pool. A23’s net revenue stood at Rs 841 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 839 crore in FY23. Despite the flat revenue, controlled expenditures and increased other income helped A23 achieve a 24% rise in net profits to Rs 72 crore in FY24. In November last year, A23 also completed its first-ever employee stock options (ESOP) buyback program worth $3 million.

L'Oréal India’s profit jumps 23% to Rs 597 Cr in FY25 L'Oréal India managed single-digit year-on-year revenue growth for the fiscal year ending March 2025. However, the Indian arm of the French cosmetics major increased its profit after tax (PAT) by 20% in FY25, approaching the Rs 600 crore threshold. The company’s revenue from operations rose 6% to Rs 5,925 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2025, compared to Rs 5,576 crore in FY24, as per its financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The company made 96% of its revenue from the sale of products, which contributed Rs 5,687 crore to the operating revenue in FY25, which increased 6% from Rs 5,368 crore in FY24. Income from services, which includes contract research and innovation income along with service recharge income, grew 15.5% to Rs 234 crore. Advertising expenses continued to dominate the cost structure, accounting for 32% of the overall spend, though it contracted 3% to Rs 1,663 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,714 crore in FY24. Cost of material consumed grew 6% to Rs 1,329 crore, making up 26% of the expenditure, while employee benefits rose 8.3% to Rs 576 crore during the last fiscal year. Other expenses, including transportation and miscellaneous overheads, stood at Rs 1,445 crore during the year. Overall, total expenses inched up by just 2.8% to Rs 5,162 crore in FY25 from Rs 5,023 crore in FY24. With the company’s revenue growth outpacing expense, L'Oréal India increased its profit by 23% to Rs 597 crore in FY25. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at 86.85% and 15.57%, respectively. On a per-unit basis, L'Oréal India spent Rs 0.87 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25, an improvement over Rs 0.90 in FY24. The company closed the last fiscal year with Rs 515 crore in cash and bank balances, while current assets grew to Rs 2,045.
