Companies lag on worker rights: survey

- A survey by Fairwork revealed that only four out of 11 assessed companies achieved a score of 6 out of 10 for fair working conditions. - The annual study evaluated popular platforms like bigbasket, Swiggy, Zomato, Flipkart, and Ola based on five principles: fair pay, fair conditions, fair contracts, fair management, and fair representation. - Only bigbasket and Urban Company implemented a minimum wage policy to ensure fair pay, earning the first point in the fair pay category. - Amazon Flex, bigbasket, BluSmart, Swiggy, Urban Company, Zepto, and Zomato were recognized for ensuring worker safety, fair contracts, and fair management. - None of the assessed companies received a point for recognizing worker collectives, despite instances of worker protests in the country. - Ola, Porter, and Uber scored zero in all five principles, while Flipkart earned a point for fair management and Amazon Flex earned points for fair conditions and fair management.
