Activists staged a protest at the LA Auto Show, dressed as characters from the show "Squid Games," to draw attention to the environmental impact of the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. According to a report by EV makers Rivian and Polestar, the EV supply chain generates 35 to 50 percent more greenhouse gas emissions than gas-powered vehicles. The activists called out Hyundai for their reliance on coal-powered steel plants and alleged labor violations. Lead the Charge, a coalition of climate and labor groups, aims to hold automakers accountable for the impacts of their supply chains on climate, labor, and Indigenous people's rights.
