Blue Origin, Astrobotic, Varda Space and others win NASA funding to develop advanced space tech

NASA has awarded $150 million in funding to 11 companies for advanced space tech projects, as part of its Tipping Point program. The projects cover diverse areas, including power generation on the lunar surface and additive manufacturing for space habitats. The aim is to mature these technologies for future NASA missions and commercial use. Several projects focus on supporting long-term moon exploration, such as Blue Origin's solution for processing solar cells from lunar regolith and Astrobotic's new power and transmission system on the lunar surface. Other projects focus on different aspects of space technology, like advanced thermal protection systems and inflatable heat shields.
