US District Judge Vince Chhabria has denied Apple's motion to dismiss a lawsuit claiming that its AirTag devices aid stalkers in tracking individuals. While rejecting some claims, Chhabria ruled that the plaintiffs had valid claims of negligence and product liability. The lawsuit, brought by about three dozen individuals, argues that Apple was aware of the risks associated with the AirTag and should be held responsible under California law. The surviving claims assert that the AirTag's safety features were inadequate and contributed to injuries in instances of stalking. Apple had argued that it implemented industry-first safety measures and should not be liable for misuse.
