A close-up look at the present—and future—of humanoid robots

Agility Robotics' humanoid robot, Digit, is designed to perform repetitive, dirty, and physically demanding tasks in industries such as logistics and warehouses. Currently being used by logistics provider GXO, Digit can autonomously move products and perform material handling tasks. Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, emphasized that Digit is intended to assist human workers rather than replace them, as it allows them to upskill and take on more digital roles. Agility Robotics plans to release commercially viable robots within the next two years, with the cost currently around the price of a luxury car. The company is also showcasing Digit's AI capabilities, including the ability to understand voice and text commands and use visual recognition to perform specific tasks, like sorting laundry.
