97% of CrowdStrike systems are back online; Microsoft suggests Windows changes

After an update-related outage to CrowdStrike's corporate security software, 97 percent of Windows systems running the software are back online. The update affected about 8.5 million systems, with approximately 250,000 still needing to be brought back online. Microsoft has engaged thousands of support engineers to assist in resolving the issue, while also suggesting changes to prioritize end-to-end resilience and security within the Windows ecosystem. Additionally, CrowdStrike has promised to improve testing procedures and implement a phased-rollout system for future updates. The recovery process involved rebooting affected systems multiple times and manually deleting the problematic update file.
